Provide a Ride

Our volunteers provide rides for our members using their own cars. Members request transportation to medical appointments, physical therapy, exercise classes, shopping, and hair appointments on the Cape. All drivers provide Nauset Neighbors with proof of insurance and a drivers license.

Visit with a Member

Many of our members enjoy a social visit from a volunteer. Some like to be read to, others like to do puzzles or play cards, some just like to chat. A social visit can also include a walk or a drive to the beach. Our volunteers and members often get to know each other well and develop strong friendships.

Provide Home Maintenance

Simple tasks such as putting in or removing window air conditioners, putting out or taking in deck furniture, hanging pictures, and changing lightbulbs are often insurmountable for our members. They so appreciate our volunteers who are willing to help them out with tasks that do not require major work.

Run an Errand

We find that some or our members are uncomfortable doing their own shopping or are unable to due to physical limitations. In that case, our volunteers do the shopping for them at a grocery store or pharmacy. The members provide a list and method of payment; the volunteers shop and deliver.

Provide Tech Assistance

An iPhone, printer, or computer monitor that is not working as expected can cause great frustration for our members. Fortunately, many of our volunteers are willing to come to the rescue and fix the problem the electronic device presents
