Volunteer handymen do things like change lightbulbs, clip or fertilize a bush, change a battery, put up a shower curtain, move a box or rug, install an air conditioner (or take it to storage), move patio furniture, move a BBQ, turn water on/off, install a screen in window/door, fix a lock or light pull, put up a mirror/picture, extend a table, use a hammer or screwdriver or small ladder. These are things that our Nauset Neighbors handymen do ~ things that take approximately an hour and use only common tools a handy husband or wife will have to do small household jobs.
Professional handymen are tradespeople that use power tools, saws, drills, nail guns, large ladders, power washers and other equipment and have these pieces of equipment with them when they go to a job. They will make carpentry repairs (interior or exterior), put up medicine cabinets, install fixtures and appliances, fix decks or stairs, paint, may do some plumbing or electrical repairs, do power washing, paint or stain decks, and do all types of general household repairs. Names of professional handymen are best located in the local weekly newspaper in the "trades" section. Most professional handymen have a range of skills.
Carpenters are tradespeople that do mainly carpentry in a professional way. Check the trades section of the local newspaper to find contact.
If there is a question that cannot be answered by the above information, contact Fred Guidi to go and evaluate the request to see if it is a volunteer handyman job. He will report back and advise if it is or not.
